The way they work, 2050 or so should be about right. If it was an unproven technology with no history or was the brainchild of someone on the board it would be a shoe-in. In the mean time they will be scrambling to figure out how everybody should be spending their R & D money in order to stifle innovation.

2009 unfunded mandates add $15-20k and none of them improve mission performance (putting out fires). To expensive or not the priority?

Seeing as CAFS tends to be used by rural depts without hydrants in town, and not by city depts with an unlimited supply of water, I don't expect it to happen anytime soon if ever.

    Question CAFS on Pumpers

Nothing in the NFPA standard says you can't put CAFS on your new or existing rig if you want it. Why does NFPA have to mandate it.

I get mixed signals. Many are complaining about the cost of the additional items mandated in the new standard but it sounds like some of you out there want certain items like CAFS mandated so you can go to the Fire Board and say I've got to have this because NFPA says its required.

I believe that Ft. Worth uses CAFS trucks. A big problem I see with CAFS or Foam trucks in general is the users get there and foam everything. Once everything is foamesthey start using water and wash away the foam...

I would say how about just a truck with foam capabillities in general? If all else fails you can go back to plain old water...
