Default If Elected will Obama keep his promise to cut taxes for those making <250k oops <200k

It started at 250k...now it's 200k. Some of his fellow democrats have lowerd that number even more.

If he's elected will he keep his promise? Or will he have to change course because of some sudden awareness of the economic hardship this would cause (as Bill Clinton did)?

Matter of fact. I predict -

He will not get us out of the middle east.

He will not enact a comprehensive health care system.

He will not increase funding for education (which is a good thing).

He will raise taxes for everyone.

He will push the misguided green agenda. ( we already have proof the agenda is screwed).

    He will increase the deficit.

His policies will destroy what is left of the economy.

From an email that's floating around.....
When it comes to redistribution of wealth,
it is better to receive than give.........

In a local restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, again I
laughed as he had given away his political preference--just imagine
    the coincidence.
When the bill came I decided not to tip the server
and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution
    of wealth concept.

He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to
redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--

the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.
    I
went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the
server inside as I've decided he could use the money more.

    The homeless guy was grateful.
At the end of my rather unscientific
redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for
the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave
away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient needed
    money more.
I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to
swallow in concept than in practical application.

Are you serious? Are you really asking if Dear Leader would not raise the taxes of the middle class?
    For Real?

Dear Leader and Biden can't even get their story straight on what the "middle class" is; what was it again? 150,000?

My bet is that our economy is going to be destroyed with any of the candidates. To me the bailout bill is like putting a band aid on an arterial bleed. It might do something, but in the end it is going to be bad.

It was down to 120,000 as of this past Sat.

No politician will give you "real numbers" to define anyone. They like it that way.

It does not matter whether they are Democrat or Republican, they will not define who the "rich" are, who the "poor" are, or who the omnipresent "middle class" is.

That way they have even less accountability. His taxes will be hard pressed to pass given the Feds just released that they are another $500,000,000,000 short this QUARTER in money, just tacked on another $1,000,000,000,000 in debt, aren't even funding all the things that they want to fund already.

A politician (regardless of party) is akin to a car salesman - they'll tell you what you want to hear up front and to your face, while pumping you up the arse as soon as you turn your back. Yet we keep voting them back in office.

    From an Email I received

The Tax System - Explained With Beer

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all
ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it
    would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.

    The fifth would pay $1.

    The sixth would pay $3.

    The seventh would pay $7.

    The eighth would pay $12.

    The ninth would pay $18.

The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that's what they decided to do.

The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the
arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. 'Since you
are all such good customers,' he said, 'I'm going to reduce the cost of
your daily beer by $20.'Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so
the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But
what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they
divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?'

They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted
that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would
each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested
that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same
amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

    And so:

The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).

The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).

The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).

The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 ( 25% savings).

The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 ( 22% savings).

The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four
continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to
    compare their savings.

'I only got a dollar out of the $20,'declared the sixth man. He pointed
to the tenth man,' but he got $10!'

'Yeah, that's right,' exclaimed the fifth man. 'I only saved a dollar,
too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I!'

'That's true!!' shouted the seventh man. 'Why should he get $10 back
when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!'

'Wait a minute,' yelled the first four men in unison. 'We didn't get
anything at all. The system exploits the poor!'

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat
down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill,
they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money
between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how
our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most
benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being
wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might
start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

Crow. Problem with that logic is I don't know 10 friends that can go to the bar and only have a $100 tab. Especially drinking beer.

    $100 tab / 10 friends = $10 each

divide that by 3-5 dollars for a beer and you got 2 or 3 beers each.

Not any group of friends I've ever gone out drinking with.

    Many will pay lower taxes.

When you're laid off due to declining economy and business closures you're not going to have the same tax bill. Don't forget to file for Obama bucks.

OK, in your case simply multiply everything by 10

I believe that taxes will be cut, those who pay nothing will pay even less. The working class will pay the same. Those making over $250,000 will have lees to invest, hence jobs will be lost. So those who used to pay taxes, will no longer pay taxes.

    LIQUID ASSETS

If you purchased $1,000 of shares in Delta Airlines one year ago, you will have $49.00 today.

If you purchased $1,000 of shares in AIG one year ago, you will have $33.00 today.

If you purchased $1,000 of shares in Lehman Brothers one year ago, you will have $0.00 today.

But, if you purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the aluminum cans for recycling refund, you will have received $214.00. Based on the above, the best current investment plan is to drink heavily & recycle. It is called the 401-Keg. A recent study found that the average American walks about 900 miles a year. Another study found that Americans drink, on average, 22 gallons of alcohol a year. That means that, on average, Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon! Makes you proud to be an American!

The question you have to ask is will Representative Pelosi lower taxes? Not President-Elect Obama. All tax legislation must start in the House...

Ahhh, but he is the de facto leader of his party.

That would be a cop out to take that position.

The answer remains a resounding NO! For the same reason I stated. The country is broke. She wants another "stimulus package" which will cost BILLIONS and we can't afford what we need now.

Then again, she is a career politician, which means that the exercising of common sense just isn't going to happen.

Either way, the next 4 years fall squarely on the shoulders of the democrats. No longer will they be able to blame the republicans for inaction, poor decisions, and the inability to do anything. So in 4 years when you ask, Am I better off today? you will know who to blame or give credit too.

    Angry Well.........

I don't want a Tax Cut. Really. I have no problem with what I'm paying now, which I think is reasonable. What I do want is a much more Open and Public Plan for how my Tax money will be used. I also want more Accountability. AND I want the Stupid Stuff cut. There is a Huge amount of Waste in Washington, as well as in other parts of the Country.

    1. The Tax Money that the Federal Government collects each year comes from us, and it should be used for OUR benefit, not wasted in other Countries all over the World.

    2. Programs funded by Taxes should provide the most benefit for the most People ALL of the time. Most People are NOT benefited by Squandering a Million Dollars on a study of the best habitat for the overstuffed Pork Barrel Dweller.

    3. Valid Priorities need to be established for allocating funding for projects. Things like Education, Health, Public Safety, and Infrstructure MUST be funded before other stuff is considered.
