As you probably know, the Peer Review panel is made up of members of the following:
•Int. Assn of Fire Chiefs (IAFC)
•Int. Assn of Firefighters (IAFF)
•National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC)
•National Fire Protection Assn (NFPA)
•National Assn of State Fire Marshals (NASFM)
•National Assn of Arson Investigators (NAFI)
•Int. Society of Fire Service Instructors (ISFSI)
•North American Fire Training Directors (NAFTD)
•Congressional Fire Service Institute (CFSI)
You can contact one of those organizations. The address for the National Volunteer Fire Council to apply is email@example.com.

So you just contact one of those groups? I have been trying to find something on IAFF website but have been unable to locate anything. I also looked on AFG's site but couldn't find any steps or procedures either. Is there any kind of reimbursement for going or are you on your own? Anyone that has been before, is it worth going?

Your travel, lodging, and food will be paid for (or at least I believe it has been in the past) but there is no direct payment for your services.

BTW - I was "recruited" for peer review directly by FEMA, through their contact lists, as they diddn't have enough people for the peer review through the usual fire service organizations. They then asked me to come back for a second week about a month later, but I couldn't squeeze the time from my FT job."If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking."

Hey Ryan, you find a way to create some extra time on the clock. My kids just turned four, and now we have tee ball, and gymnastics already starting. I still try to slip off and hunt, but my Christmas present this year will be a double seat tree stand so I can get my son invloved, their moms not to keen on me taking my daughter hunting, but I can still try. I have received a questionaire from FEMA, and have had a couple of contacts about the fire prevention grants asking if I would be interested.

can you still apply for AFG grant for your department and still be on peer review?

Hey Derrick! No, I sure didn't! I am also probably going to take on another part time job too, but hey, what the heck. I figure if I want to go to peer review then I better do it now. The little one is at a good age and with the wedding coming up I figure I better try to get it in soon before the leash is tightened too tight. I would like to go just to see what it is like. Kurt's mini peer review was a good experience but still would like to make the trip at least once.
