Hey WT. Help me understand.
You are not here for months on end, no matter how many times a thread was reported. Now, every time there is a disagreement between the posters, even if it doesn't voilate the TOS, you are going to close the thread?
Seems to me you should be able to find a happy medium, huh?
BTW, there is still an active thread in the Off Duty side that is directed at me with my name in the title. I reported it about five times. How about dealing with that stuff instead of getting in between adults having a disagreement?

Completely agree with you George. Would also like to add to that list the threads that are obviously advertisements.

As a media outlet you would expect a very liberal interpretation of the rules in observance of the first amendment. To stifle active debate seems to go against the very purpose of a forum (a place for open debate). The recent actions are certainly confusing to say the least

Ummm ok then.
I was going to PM you, George, to ask what thread got shut down. But I just figured it out (unless they closed more than one this morning) and all I can say is WTF???!!! With all the mudslinging going on in other threads, they CLOSED the Potted Plant thread???????!!!!!
Well, I guess that will help lisitpc find the answer he/she was looking for. I'm sure this experience will leave a great impression of how friendly and helpful firefighters are.
Personally, I was thought it was an interesting subject, one that hasn't been discussed here before, and I was looking forward to learning more.September 11th - Never Forget
I respect firefighters and emergency workers worldwide. Thank you for what you do.

Webteam- Regardless of the person or issue, some consistancy on your end would be nice here.
George- Maybe the WT is still upset about the parking citation incident? You could have let the ticket slide that one time.

They'll probably disappear again without answering this thread. I forgot those useless people existed.
Even the burger-flippers at McDonald's probably have some McWackers.

This site has a WT? Oh yea, you mean the guys that let Capt. "you know who" do as he pleases, like selling his snake oil to the new guys but put George in time out for speaking the truth. But just one question, why shut down the potted plant thread?

First, the WebTeam (consisting of 1 person) would have to actually check into the forums more than once every 4 months.
Second, they would have to spend some actual time in the forums to read some threads.
Third, "their" method of flipping a coin to decide whether a thread should be closed allows "them" to moderate the forums without spending any time reading them.
I think you have a better chance of volunteers and paid FF's agreeing on 2 hatting before you see any consistency from the web "team".
"This thread is being closed as it is off-topic and not related to the fire industry." - Isn't that what the Off Duty forum was for?

I tried asking the WT a question a few years ago but it was in regards to letting a spirited debate play out. I think it was a career vs. volly thread that had not gone south. Their answer to me...they locked the thread. I gave up.

I received a recent week off for being argumentative and because of complaints. No idea what the complaints were, what the offensive statements were. And Argumentative!!!!! WTF!!! Isn't that what debate is?
