Default Raw wildland video from Orange County...

The forums have been slow, so I will post more recent local stuff here. This video is very raw and gives you the feeling what it feels like to be there. I dont know how else to descibe it.

Anyways, fast forward the video to the part where they are at the structures. As you can see, there was a lack of resources, water and personnel to battle this conflagration.

    Here it is- www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFlh5tbEg_4

Ever get the sinking feeling that you're outgunned..... fire blazing up over the top of 3 story homes and these poor guys are armed with a booster reel off a brush truck.

    Thumbs up Gutsy Effort

I still think it's a gutsy effort but i would have thought that in an urban area from the looks, where are the pumpers that can deliver more water like in the task force thread ?

From what I've read on the other fire message board I frequent, that's an LA County photographer manning the hydrant for the OCFA gents. Mutual aid for the win.

I am sure the FF was repositioning it. And please consider that he has been on the fires for atleast 24 hours straight. He might be a little tired so have his hoselay perfect for the shot of 40+ mile an hours winds blowing fire faster than he can manuver the hose.

    Nice cheap shot though.

think the brothers there did an outstanding job considering the conditions, i seriously doubt you could have poured enough water fast enough from any hoseline onto that fire, esp. with 50 + mph winds driving it up canyons and through thick brush.. Sad to say it will make my job of educating people on the needs to clear their property and use fire resistive construction, to hopefully prevent things like this here, esp. now as our fire season is just beginning..

I don't envy the job they have

    Thumbs up Bou??...........

Great Shots........ On the one with the guy who has a dry line, It looks like he stretched in towards the structure, but the water didn't catch up with him yet. It's hard to tell from the photo, but that MAY be a Garage, and a fuel tank let go just as the photo was shot. Regardless, My helmet is off in respect for the job that those guys do, season after season.

You can probably get an operation to thicken your skin up. Im sure a lot of people here will chip in to help pay for it.

That guy could of been spraying gasoline on that fire and you would of defended it.

If you don't want people to comment honestly on the photos, then please don't post them

If all you are looking for is "oooooooohs and aaaaaaaahs", then this probably isn't the place.

That said, those fires look like tough ones to fight. But we are all firefighters and have all been to tough fires and if any of us posted photos of them, I am sure there is plenty that can and will be found to critique.

It is the price of admission in the fire service.

I'm in. Let me know what my end is.

On second thought, do you even know if this proceedure will work? I know it was tested on mice, but will it work on a rat?
