Could someone enlighten me as to what the present purpose is for these two companies. I've found little on the immediate subject beyond that the companies previously were responsible for some sort of hospital for the indigent at Long Island. What are they doing now? Do they function as a traditional fire company or do they exist simply as a place for old timers to go and rack up time at a really sleepy house before they retire? Looking at their apparatus, I have to question what value they could really serve.
