    Default Need a Turkey?

    Harve has some...

    Delivering Thanksgiving Joy

Harve Woods, on top; Devin Grasty on the backstep; and Chris Richards load the turkeys for delivery into the Vistas at Lake Largo.

Several Prince George’s County Volunteer members of the Fire/EMS Department assisted in the distribution of Thanksgiving food baskets today. Through a generous donation from G.S. Proctor and Associates, Inc. 2200 turkeys and other food items were distributed throughout Prince George’s County this morning.

The food baskets rode on-board and were delivered from an antique piece of fire apparatus from the Bladensburg Fire/EMS Station. The first stop for this crew was The Vistas at Lake Largo on Harry S. Truman Drive North where 120 turkeys were delivered to extremely grateful senior citizens.

This was just one crew of several and consisted of Harve and Laura Woods from the Glenn Dale Fire Association; “Roach” Rinehart from the Bladensburg Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad; Chris Richards, Kentland Volunteer Fire Department and Devin Grasty, G.S. Proctor and Associates.

"Roach" Rinehart delivers the turkeys assisted by Chris Richards.

    Thumbs up Yeah..........

Many of you have thought that I am associated with a bunch of Turkeys, so..................

I think that we've brightened the Holiday for some "Fixed Income" families by doing this. The operation is a combination of Area Business Interests, Churches, VFDs, and others. We're going to do an instant replay a few days before Christmas. The driving force behind this is a Local Business Owner, Steve Proctor, who has a Heart as big as that Mack C95 in the picture. I did get reminded of how chilly an open cab gets in winter......

Good deal. Always nice to see this sort of thing.

I only wish there was a better shot of the rig? Looks like a classic?

Chief - Go to www.BV9FD.com and click on "Rigs" for a 3/4 shot of the Front/Drivers Side. It's a '69 Mack C95, Beautifuly Restored. I worked a few days (detailed) at 9 back when I was a Firefighter for the PGFD in the 70's, and rode it a few times. VERY Nice Ride.
