I have been given the task of finding out what other departments regulations are regarding DUI's and current employee's. We have a current Captain who has just gotten his second DUI. The problem is because the first DUI he received there were no guidelines about the punishment. So the next time the guidelins were updated it was put into the books that there is a possibility to be fired if you receive a DUI. While most of the FF's on the dept. want the guy gone, the Chief (newly appointed), doesn't want to create a fire storm, being as he is new. Any insight into your organizations guidelines on DUI's and punishment. Any public links to your guidelines would be greatly appreciated.
