It's finally happened.
He's being charged with trying to sell Obama's vacated Senate seat.
No wonder it was taking so long.

Assuming he is guilty, which I suppose goes against everything that we believe as Americans...
I would love to know what goes through someones head when they decide to do something so stupid. There is literally no way to do it without getting caught, so how then, does someone make this decision?
If it were greed, then logic should kick in at somepoint, and you realize that if I get caught, and I will, I won't get a dime. So why? There don't seem to be too many ethical people left that are interested in serving a position of office in government at any level. This is truly a disgrace to every voting american.
This was never about ethics or money.
It was about EGO.
Blago is just the tip of the corruption in Illinois politics.
The state is full of "blagos".
Innocent until proven guilty, but I can at least HOPE that he's guilty.
This will be the best Christmas EVER.

I hope so for your sake too, I'd like for you to have a merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas CR!! :D
Umbelievable. I just cannot understand how someone could think they are so above the law to try a stunt like this (among others). Oh, umm, sorry, innocent until proven guilty. Maybe he didn't do it. He was set up. Etc. Etc. Etc.

The details about selling the Senate seat are towards the end.
My favorite part was when he was thinking of taking the seat himself to work on his image in preperation of running for president! YEA RIGHT
All i can say is thank god its definetly time.
Les:
I printed it off and read it.
It appears that Mrs. Blago has a real potty mouth on her.
I thought that she was the picture of motherhood.
Now, I find out that she talks like a hooker.
No wait; that's Rod. HE did it for money.
My bad.

there were whiffs of an impending indictment coming for weeks now. A sad day for Illinois.
honsetly, i can't believe it took this long!
I don't understand his logic!? considering the government of Illinois has a horrible track record with corrupt officials, why would he think he'd be the one to get away with it!?
Merry Christmas everyone!
Well I didn't think they would go after him while he was still in office but AMEN!!!! I have said for a long time that George Ryan was keeping Blago a warm bunk, now maybe they will soon be cell mates!!! That is if Bush doesn't commute the rest of his sentence, which I would hope after this little fiasco isn't an option.
MERRY F****** XMAS BLAGO!!!!!!!!
It's a sad day for Illinois, I agree. But after all the phoney reformer crap we've had shoved down our throats for the last five years, I'm delighted. I heard mention today that Rod may be mentally disturbed, and I'm inclined to agree: how stupid do you have to be KNOWING that the Feds are investigating everything you've done and to still be this blatant about it?
God bless Patrick Fitzgerald. He's the best thing to happen to this state since Lincoln. And probably the only honest man since.
I comcur on the mental issues. It makes no sense what so ever.
I will have to respectfully disagree with you Mike.
Something has needed to be done about the corruption in Illinois and Chicago politics for years. I feel this may be exactly what is needed to make some major ethics changes happen as the corruption can no longer be denied. It was a sad day when he was elected and even a sadder day when the people of Chicago re-elected him. I can assure you that there is no sadness in this part of Illinois today!
I stand by my opinion it is a sad day when the governor is arrested. I don't feel sorry for Rod, his family or anyone else involved. It is an embarrassment to each and every hard-working person of our state... Wait and see how far this travels. As for corruption in Illinois being a 'Chicago thing"... It is all over this state and it is institutionalized. Kerner, Walker, Ryan....
Bail was set at a whopping $4500 bucks.
The bail he posted was probably 10%, so his actual bail is $45,000. And I was happier than a probie at graduation that this nitwit finally got his. Now maybe we can get them to take down Richie Daley and Todd Stroger next for the government-idiot-trifecta.
I agree with everybody that this is one sad for Illinois. To do something so stupid to start with, but to keep doing it after what former Gov. Ryan went through just blows my mind. Rod, most of us figured it out long ago, now the rest of the world will know the truth.
Give us back Jim Edgar.
