I don't post much anymore these days, but this one was too good not to share.
A near-by department (I won't say, who, but it's in Kane County), got toned-out this morning to go to the grade school. "Report to the front of the building: there is a child there with his tongue stuck to the flag pole, and the tongue is bleeding."
Nope, not a joke. My sources inform me that a warm bag of IV fluids was trickled onto the tongue and the boy was freed. No transport.
"Now Flick has refused to say who put him up to this, but you know who you are. And I'll sure the guilt you feel is far worse than any punishment I could give."
Watch out for the ice storms tonight...............

I can see Jay egging the kid on and telling him it was just a "fluke" and it wouldn't happen a second time.......

Jay, that could only happen up north. Us southerners know better and we teach our young-uns better. That is a good story, though. Just when you think you've seen it all.
We had a little freezing rain Tuesday night, not really a major problem for us. Be careful up there.Jack Boczek, Chief

Well, with the recent cold that Jack mentioned in another thread someone was bound to have another Christmas Story episode. This time it was Centralia Fire and Lifestar that were dispatched this morning to a child with his tongue stuck to a pole. It was freed by the time they got there but bleeding. The patient refused transport to the hospital.

One of our guys was on his way into work last week and dropped his daughter off at the bus stop for school and found a kid with his tongue stuck to a street sign. Apparently he'd been like that for a decent amount of time because part of his tongue was completely white and had been bleeding also. A mother from across the street came running over with some warm water to free it just as the child's dad was pulling up......

And for the trifecta. A child yesterday stuck his tongue to a pole in Hammond, IN and pulled most of it off. The child went to a local drinking establishment and the bartender gave the child a towel until his parents arrived.
The kicker of the story is that the film was fictionally based in Hammond.
