Here's another helpful link for anyone who is thinking about the 2009 AFG cycle. Lots of good advice and grant narrative samples from previous years. http://minnesotafireservice.com/grantsmainmenu.html

I'll second that, Warren does a great job with getting information out there. Had the priviledge to meet him at a workshop last year. He runs around the state teaching almost as much if not more than Kurt and I do around the country.

I have to applaud MN's thoroughness with AFG on the state level. I can definately say TN doesn't have that kind of program. Who implements their program??
I do have a question though; I have noticed that they increase their matching share when available. Does increasing matching funds help get past the computer??
Thanks for the post of this website. Lots of good info!

Yes -- anything that reduces federal costs or increases benefit (or both) will help your application.
If your new widget is going to cost $200,000 and help 10,000 people but mine will cost the feds $150,000 and help the same 10,000 people then, all else being equal, the computer is going to want to help me and take the $50,000 savings to help fund another project.
