Default How many runs do you run when you do run?

I'm just curious. I am wondering average call volumes for everyone. I hope this hasn't been posted several times before. I haven't seen it if it has. We run 6-7 a day, but I have ran 15. Not offical numbers here, just rough estimates will be fine. Thanks.

East Coast Ice Storm of 1995, I did about 20-30 runs in a 15 hour period, then subsequently probably another 15 or more in the following 24-36 hours.

Hurricane whatever, summer of 1999 or so....my career house did approx. 40 runs in a 24 hour period.

As a buff, I rode with an engine company in Brooklyn NY (who will remain un-named to protect the guilty ) on July 4, 1992, which was a Saturday night.....In the 24 hour period between 8am July 4 to 8am July 5, I think the total calls was something like 70......we would leave the station on one run, and just keep getting assigned to run after run after run.........

    Cool

I seem to remember a few other threads like this one out there, but what the heck... if there's one thing we're good at in these forums, it's beating dead horses.

We finished 2008 with 1,260 runs in an area of about nine square miles with a resident population of approx. 15,500. That's about three and a half runs per day on average. For perspective, we ran a total of 509 calls in all of 2001.

The department record was set in August 2006, when a storm came through and we responded to 20 calls in the span of just over two hours. The shift on duty caught five other runs that day and finished with 25 calls for the 24-hour tour. I'm not positive, but I think second place is 12 runs in a 24-hour tour, which has happened a couple of times.

My group ran 100 calls during the ice storm of December 11-12 from 18:00 to 08:00 hours. The Department did a total of 199 for the period of December 11th through the 13th.

We did 5,720 calls for the year.

My career department will do about 50,000 runs this year, and about 2600 of those will be from my station. The engine does about 8 a day.

We average 2 a day at my VFD.

The socio-economic make-up of our district ensures that we don't sleep much around this place.

After posting my previous message, I got curious so I pulled our stat's for last year. I was a little off.

Our county did 38,700 calls last year, and the breakdown for our station was:
    • Engine: 2746
    • Truck: 1691
    • Medic: 2619

Regardless, it makes for a good time in our little ol' slice of the US.

We usually run 1100-1200 calls per year (no FR program currently).

Before confire asks, no I don't get paid to sleep, but when I am sleeping I'm not not getting paid.

I hope that is counting one run per an engine, a truck ,a ambulance, and a battalion... Right?

We are a small rural fire dept in 2008 we ran 2 structure fires, 1 car fire, and 3 brush fires so I guess a total of 6 calls add 5 more for mutal add calls to are districts.

This has been posted before and always turns into the same thing. The question is your rig. Not your station, house, battalion, district, department, county or state. YOUR rig. The one you are on. Wow...

Exception - you get a pass if you are similar to the two posts above me...

OP did not specify which, your station, or just your rig. I'm sure plenty of stations have personnel that rotate between the different rigs in their station....

So your dept. only ran 11 calls for the year?

The engine I'm on makes about 2200 a year, and the medic unit I'm on makes 3300 a year. Our department has 24 stations and we finished up somewhere around 41,000 runs last year

We get 300 calls per year. That said, when a storm rolls through we will get multiple calls in a couple of hour period. Of the 300 1/2 are EMS.
