Default Montgomery County Recruit Class 35...

    Hey everyone, whats going on?

I applied for this in late November and was wondering if anyone aside from me on this site has done the same. I'm asking because I haven't gotten any word on this from the department. All it says in my account is "scheduled for exam". It doesn't have a date or anything.. Will I get something in the mail? Maybe I'm just too eager.

I'm pretty sure they postponed the test. RC 34 was scheduled to start by March, but it has been postponed, which in turn postponed the test for 35. Not 100% sure though. I'd call them and ask.

I'm in the same boat I applied at the end of November. When I log into the city website it also states that I'm scheduled for exam?? Hopefully they don't postpone the exam, but with the economy the way it is it wouldn't surprise me..

I to applied on line as well, i received an e-mail from the human resources deaprtment sometime in late december saying that the test had been postponed until the summer. I sent her an eamil stating that my address had changed and that she would contact me by e-mail/phone when the new test date is scheduled for.

I also applied for this test. I have a good friend that works for MCFRS. He said they received an email notifying them that RC34, which was originally scheduled for January, is postponed for either June or July of 2009. Hopefully our test should come up around then. Other than that, just be patient and wait for the information in that mail. The economy isn't helping at all, but it's bound to come sooner or later.

Has anyone here tested with MCFD before? If you live out of state do you have a chance getting on with this department?

Yeah I'm really surprised they postponed it seeing as how it's just outside D.C. Not many of the departments in the area are that strapped from cash seeing as how the D.C. area is essentially recession proof due to the government. Hopefully it will go through as planned in a couple months.

Being a resident in state or out of state does not matter with MCFRS

I tested with them in 2008. By far the most important part of the process is the oral interview. I scored a 93 on the written and a friend scored an 83. He then scored a 70 on the interview and I scored a 67. They didn't accept any scores below a 70 and he's still in the running for RC34. Definitely focus on interview preparation for their process.

Actually I think PG County is really hurting. I think they had furloughs or they had to let their full-time guys off early because they couldn't afford to pay them.

if by red head step child you mean runs twice the fire that MC does then yeah, they are. PG's situation has nothing to do with Montgomery's though...PG doesn't have half the funding(literally) that MC dose.

But like stated, this test has been postponed (dont have the e-mail as to when though). The most important part of the process is the interview and scores on previous parts are not looked at. The oral will either make you or break you so make sure you prepare for it.

I was told that conditionals(for 34) are suppose to go out within the next week or so, but the county was asked to cut 3.5% of its 2010 budget as well so they may not. If 34 gets pushed back again I imagine the test for 35 will as well, so keep your ears open.
