I am currently doing an EMT program as a requirement for fire academy. I plan to do the academy in the fall and work as an EMT over the summer to get some hours. I am 29 yo. and want to get hired as a fire fighter, but at the rate of EMT/Paramedic pay i cannot afford to live on it.
My question is: Should I start the medic program(12 mo) or start an RN school while applying for non-medic positions. My goal is to be a full time FF or a Nurse anesthetist within 3 years. Is it almost impossible to get a job without a Paramedic cert?
