I "float" to different stations depending on where manpower is needed. Anyhoo, some houses have a pumper and a rescue truck. I'm always on the pumper, and our dispatch can tone out companies individually. While I'm sleeping, if the rescue co. gets a call, I am woke up from hearing the paramedics radio sound. Is there some advice y'all can give me to be able to sleep through tones that aren't for the engine co. ?
Go sleep in the TV room? (The trolling might be better in there)
It will come with experience. I don't here any ambulance only runs.;)
It's not our job to help you sleep through tones.

Maybe this guy needs to bunk next to the guy that doesn't wake up for tones.

Thanks "nameless", I was afraid of that after I read the other "tones" post. I'm signing my papers tomorrow. Gotta find a new job. Do cops get to nap in their cruisers?
I did a three-night ride-along with FDNY a number of years ago, while I was taking a class there, and as I recall, the Brothers then referred to "Truck Sit-Ups".
The tones and bells hit, everyone sit's-up in bed, the watchman shouts "Engine goes!", and the truck crew lays back down....

I guess you would be labeled a moocher and dead weight, but you could ask one of the rescue guys to put a pillow over your face to shield you from the sounds and to help you go back to sleep before he goes out to the truck.
But that would mean asking someone else in your firehouse for help, which is wrong.
Some sincere advice for you since you are very quick to criticize some answers.
The chief off your department should have many years experience at being a firefighter, you should ask him.

Lol, seriously man? You want people to offer you advice on how to sleep through tones? I Know I put that "how-to-get-in-someones-head-and-enable-thier-brain-to-only-acknowledge-certain-tones-while-sleeping" book somewhere around here.
