Crawfordsville (FL) Fire Captain Richard Rhea, 60, very tragically died today in the Line of Duty after slipping on wet grass and falling on a downed power line at the scene of a car crash. He is the only Firefighter to have died in the line of duty in Wakulla in 35 years. Captain Rhea leaves behind a wife, four children and four grandchildren. Crawfordsville is located in Wakulla County. More details to follow.

The area is actually called Crawfordville, with no "s". Wakulla County, Florida. But whatever..
Capt Rhea was one of my first teachers when I first began volunteering at his station. He was a great man, a great teacher, a good listener, and always willing to help in any way he could. If I ever had any stupid question about anything fire service related, he was always happy to answer. He was always all about safety. Thats what makes his death one thats really hard to deal with, at least for me. But, when you are called up, you must answer. My prayers go out to his family...

For any that plan to attend the services the serivce is set for Wensday afternoon. The Precision Starts at 2:15 PM and The Funeral is set for 3:00 PM.
