Default 2 Texas firefighters die from fall during training

    Just got this

KILGORE, Texas (AP) ó Two firefighters have died after falling from the roof of an eight-story building during training in east Texas.

Kilgore police say 45-year-old Kyle Perkins and 28-year-old Cory Galloway fell from a dormitory building at Kilgore College. Two other firefighters were hurt.

Kilgore College has a fire academy that offers certification for firefighters.

Perkins had been with Kilgore city fire department since July 2004. Galloway joined in January 2008.

Kilgore is about 120 miles east of Dallas.

Prayers to the family and friends

    Very Sad Day.

My thoughts are with the family and brothers in Texas.
I am now a past chief and the views, opinions, and comments are mine and mine alone. I do not speak for any department or in any official capacity. Although, they would be smart to listen to me.

"The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it's still on the list."

"When tempted to fight fire with fire, remember that the Fire Department usually uses water."

Kilgore is a neighbor department for us so this news has really hit close to home for us. When you know the Firefighter's involved on a personal level it makes an incident like this even more difficult to understand.

Kyle, Cory Rest In Peace Brothers we have it from here.

To My Brothers with the Kilgore Fire Department and their Families The Longview Fire Department will be here for you. You are in our thought and prayers.
A "Good" fire is not measured by how big it is, but by the fact that everyone is going home safe, and that we possibly learned something new about firefighting. Member:IACOJ

    Rest easy Brothers.

We will learn from this, and try to ensure it does not happen again.

Likely we will send personnel to the services, unless they are on Wednesday.

We will be burying one of our support members who was killed in a car accident this weekend on that day.

It was just 2 years ago that 2 members from a department just south of Kilgore were killed at a house fire.

This is awful. I was a student there in 2001 and I did a live in program at station 2 in Kilgore then. I don't know these 2 guys but the rest of the guys in Kilgore were great guys. Any word on the 2 other guys that were injured.

    Rest in Peace Brothers.

    Services are Thursday and Friday.

More than likely will be assigned to attending both.

It is never easy when it hits close to home.

Thoughts and prayers go out to Texas tonight.
