Default Survey from Firemans Fund Heritage Program

Just got passed this from the Senior Director of the Heritage Program:

FIREMAN’S FUND INSURANCE COMPANY launches nationwide fire service survey

February/March Study to Show Critical Fire Department Needs, Serve as Fire Service Tool

NOVATO, Calif. (Jan. 28, 2009) – After hearing from fire departments across the country facing increased budget challenges, Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company is sponsoring an on-line survey to gather data on the challenges faced by fire departments in different regions of the country. The result will be a comprehensive snapshot of today’s fire service, providing detailed insight and showing trends.

The electronic survey will ask questions to gauge how the current economic crisis is affecting departments and what equipment and resources departments are lacking. The survey results will be a tool for the fire service to educate the public, as well as guide and support the grant program at Fireman’s Fund®.

The survey can found at www.ipsosresearch.com/FireService or through the www.firemansfund.com/heritage Web site starting on February 16 and running though March 2009. Results are expected to be announced nationwide in May.

All members of the fire service are encouraged to participate in the survey which will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. The more people who participate, the more thorough the results will be. As a special thanks for taking the time to do the survey, all participants will be eligible to receive one of 10 handcrafted, leather Fireman’s Fund fire helmets – a reproduction from the 1880s.

Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, the survey’s sponsor, has directed grants in conjunction with its independent insurance agents and employees to fire departments across the country since 2004. The company has donated more than $21 million to over 1,000 different fire departments.

“We strongly believe that supporting the local fire service is the best way to make local communities safer,” said Danielle Cagan, senior director of the Heritage ProgramSM for Fireman’s Fund. “The results of this survey will be made available to the fire service and used to try and direct positive change.”

I have an FAQ PDF but it's a mite too big for posting according to the size limitations. I believe it's on their site also, I'll post the URL as soon as I find it.

Everyone needs to go fill this out when it's posted on the 16th. For them to solicit our needs is an impressive step so we should take the few minutes to respond.

    Thanks - Brian

    (bump)

Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company is sponsoring a survey to learn more about firefighter needs — a survey that is about you, by you and for you. The information collected will serve as a tool to help the fire service during these difficult economic times, and also to guide our company’s fire department grant program.

Click here to complete this 15 minute survey on behalf of the American Fire Service. As a thank you, 10 lucky winners will receive a handcrafted, leather fire helmet from Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, modeled after the helmets worn in the 1880s. Thank you for your participation.

Interesting. Good to see someone asking.

If anyone from Fireman's Fund is reading. The "challenges" page are not particularily more difficult today than 12months ago. The "challenges" existed before the economic problems of recent months. I suggest duplicating the page questions/stats of problems as of Feb 2008.

    Doin' the bump....

    Time is running out!

The March 31 deadline to take the online firefighter survey sponsored by Fireman's Fund Insurance Company is fast approaching. Take it now at www.ipsosresearch.com/firehouse and be eligible to win one of 10 collectible, leather fire helmets!

    Here's how you can help:
    1. If you have taken the survey, thank you. Please forward this email to other firefighters -- especially in other departments -- and encourage them to do the same.

    2. If you have not yet taken it, please do and also forward this to other fire service organizations and firefighters you know.

Together, we are capturing information that will provide the public with an understanding of all that you do and how the economy is affecting the way you are able to serve your community. The data will also help guide and support our grant programs.

As always, thank you for all your assistance and especially for all you do to make our communities safer.

P.S. To stay in touch on this survey and our grant program, visit www.firemansfund.com/heritage or follow us on twitter username: FFundHeritage.
