    Smile Chicago Fire Dept

I'm heading to Chicago tomorrow for the weekend. Were staying along Michigan Ave. I'm curious to know where the nearest firehouse is or if there is any fire related shops etc to visit while in Chicago?

    Thanks

Management is making sure things are done right. Leadership is doing the right thing. The fire service needs alot more leaders and a lot less managers.

"Everyone goes home" is the mantra for the pussification of the modern, American fire service.

Comments made are my own. They do not represent the official position or opinion of the Fire Department or the City for which I am employed. In fact, they are normally exactly the opposite.

If you're staying on Michigan Avenue, you'll likely pass Engine 98 without knowing it. They're about one block east on E. Chicago from the Water Tower. Also, if your staying on the lower half of Michigan (closer to the river), there's a multiple-company station on Upper Columbus one block south of the river (Columbus is two blocks east of Michigan).

Obviously, there are a couple of other houses downtown... but these are the two I'm familiar with in my travels to Chicago.

Yep, Engine 98 is hidden away, in a castle-looking station.
All the houses that are that immediate/walkable area are:
    Engine 98's house
    Engine 42's house
    Engine 13's house.
    Engine 1's house

Addresses can be found at this website address:

Engine 13 and a ladder house right behind the Swissotel with a Scuba unit.
