Default NFPA are you a member?

Just got a flyer in the mail from the NFPA asking me to join for 150.00 a year,
How many here belong and is it worth the money?

    Thumbs down Well............

I get those too, too often. I have not, and don't plan to, join this organization. I can't see the benefit for the amount of money involved.

When the FD paid for it, I was.

    Now, i'm not.

I had to turn in my secret nomex decoder ring.

I do not have my own personal membership.

The Department has a membership number.

Membership can be tax deductible as a professional organization.

    The Department pays for membership.

Really it's only a tax exempt thing and a discount on buying copies of NFPA rules and regs. You get a newsletter too. Oh, and you get a cool NFPA sticker for your window if you want.

    Kind of a big waste.

the reflective vest is now required not only to be breakway but also coated with teflon so the defecation that hits the oscillation will not stick!

The National For Profit Organization only wants your money

When fire is cried and danger is neigh,
    "God and the firemen" is the people's cry;
But when 'tis out and all things righted,
God is forgotten and the firemen slighted.

Rather then lay out 150 smackers, I get all the information I need off the internet, so the answer is no.

I was. When the choice had to be made of groceries or NFPA renewal stomach won out and I bought food for the house.
