I've been looking into a firefighting career for a while now, but have just taken my first major steps towards becoming a firefighter in Marion County, FL. I have a couple of questions that I cant seem to find any answers too and was wondering if anyone could help! Thanks everyone in advance for all the help and advice, it is greatly appreciated!
1) Do firefighters get paid for 72 hours or 40? for instance if you see firefighters make $10/hr, how would you calculate your weekly salary?
2) Can you get hired by your loal fire dept while or before you are in fire college? Also, when should you start applying for a job as a firefighter/emt?
3) Does anyone happen to know the hiring situation in Marion County? How bout the length of time it usually takes to get hired? Also, starting salaries for firefighters in this area?
Thanks for any and all help!!
