Default Injuries that will effected hire?

Hey, I was wrestling and fractured my right tib/fib just above the ankle. I had to have a rod and plate put in. Will this count against me as far as getting hired?

    Default Getting hired

Depends on the Department and requirements for the job. I was hired with a broken tib fib and 6 titanium screws and a slight drop foot.Twenty-six (26) years later I retired.Good luck!!

    So many factors....

The department, their Doctor, did the Doctor care?, your pain level, how does it feel now vs. the future? Do they even ask?

As long as you do not have any physical limitations it will not hurt you. I would encourage you to have a letter from your doctor stating that you are 100% capable of becimming a firefighter.

The Amaricans with Disabilities Act (ADA) has substantially reduced the number of medical disqualifications. Their stance is that a person who can pass the physical agility exam can qualify as a firefighter. A steel plate in your ankle is no big deal as long as you do not have any restrictions.
