I dont want to sound like a bad person but if you are having to ask for ideas on a grant that is almost half over you probably should not apply for it.
We to are planning on applying for a SAFER grant for retention, thought of gas cards. If anyone has any ideas or is wiiling to share their info please email at mmpwfireco@innernet.net Thanks.
Dusty
Lets ask the question this way, "what does your department do to recruit and retain members?" Are any of these activities funded using safer monies? What activities has the Safer grant awarded your department? I am simply looking for ideas to get more members into our department that are willing to do the job and stick with it for more than a year or two years!! Thanks for the help.
Kelly
We pay for membership in the state firefighter's pension fund.
$15.00 per month, per firefighter.
We also pay $100. after completeing the basic GA Module 1 class.
Both of these are paid for with SAFER funds.
We also pay our folks $30. per month to attend 3 out of 4 training meetings a month.
Hope this answers your question.
Glenn

Tution reimbursement. Lounge area. Off duty coats. FF I and II training. EMS First responder training. LED sign. All paid with SAFER. We have doubled our size.
Do you think you could ask for emt training money in an effort to entise EMT's
Kelly I am not sure what can be done but we have been very lucky to have 15 new member join and we were concern what we were going to do but it is still in the back of our mind but at this point we were lucky but who know what the future holds and I am willing to see what everyone has been doing to keep those that we have or get other to become members
Doesn't matter how much they cost since it's not an eligible item. If they are going to training and it can be documented that it is a required class which caused them to lose personal costs (fuel, lost wages, etc.) they can be reimbursed.
When does SAFER traditionally open? Or should I say, when whill this year's program open?
Hello all, I am new to our volunteer fire department, but i am heading up our funding department and would like to know more about the safer grants: how to apply, web site, or any information anyone can give me. thanks so much

These are allowable requests?
Lounge area; what did you get for that?
Off duty coats; was that something for like at a banquet with your logo and stuff?
