I dont want to sound like a bad person but if you are having to ask for ideas on a grant that is almost half over you probably should not apply for it.

    Default Recruitment and Retention

Lets ask the question this way, "what does your department do to recruit and retain members?" Are any of these activities funded using safer monies? What activities has the Safer grant awarded your department? I am simply looking for ideas to get more members into our department that are willing to do the job and stick with it for more than a year or two years!! Thanks for the help.

We pay for membership in the state firefighter's pension fund.
    $15.00 per month, per firefighter.
We also pay $100. after completeing the basic GA Module 1 class.
Both of these are paid for with SAFER funds.

We also pay our folks $30. per month to attend 3 out of 4 training meetings a month.

    Hope this answers your question.

Costs to attend training are eligible as reimbursements for things such as fuel or lost wages. The actual training costs (tuition) are not eligible.

What about paying the guys to go to the classes if the classes are free?

Doesn't matter how much they cost since it's not an eligible item. If they are going to training and it can be documented that it is a required class which caused them to lose personal costs (fuel, lost wages, etc.) they can be reimbursed.

It depends. If those EMT classes are college credit classes then yes,
you could do it using tuition reimbursement.

If they are not college credit classes, then probably not, as they are not
    part of the FFI/FF2 Curriculum.

    These are allowable requests?
Lounge area; what did you get for that?
Off duty coats; was that something for like at a banquet with your logo and stuff?
