    Wise decision.

The paper we received at the interview says for any notification changes to contact LaWanda Johnson at (513) 352-6219.

Had my oral board on thursday, I think it went well, I was only in the room for like 3 or 4 minutes explaining my answers. I dont know if that was to short, but at the same time i didnt want to bore them. I am excited to see if i advance to the next phase.

Congrats to all those who made it through!

The guy (ff) right in front of me started drifting out the window half way through mine, made me feel like crap. But I didn't show it and kept on talking.

    Scenarios:

    1) As a firefighter, what is the difference between your private life and a regular citizen's private life?

    2) You work at the busiest firehouse in the city. Vacation time is given in seniority so will have to work major holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day. What are the negative and positives of working these days? And how would you handle the negatives?

    3) How have you handled situations involving youths, adults and elderly (men and women)? Also abused and abusive individuals?

*I can't remember the last one as clearly. Anyone remember what it was?

My first question was exactly the same but 2 and 3 were different. 2. You will be partnered up with a firefighter for the first six months of service. Would you rather work at a slow station with a fire fighter that has 30 years of service and is on the verge of retirement, or at a busy station with a firefighter that has less than five years of service and why? 3.The community is made up of many diverse people, what is your personal experience with dealing with alternative lifestyles or uneducated/highly educated people? (not word for word)

Wow, 3 (three) classes??? That would be awesome although the way I interpreted everything going on is the grant the city was just awarded in March was for 1 (one) class of 40. Also, to financially be able to accept the grant the city would have to apply for a waiver, without the waiver the city would not be able to accept the grant. The June timeline makes sense for the city to get the full benefit of the grant but I have not seen anything yet in reference to the waiver. This is all from searching city documents and the internet so take it for what it is worth, anyone else know anything more? Good luck to everyone still in the process.

All I have heard from a couple of the higher ups on CFD is that there will be one class of 40 that has to start by the end of june to be eligible for the grant. Seems to me there will be alot of rushing to get the rest of the process thru in time. (polygraph, behavior assessment, medical exam)

Anyone hear from the city about the next step? It said on the sheet from the oral board that we would hear something the week of May 10th.

Nope. I was told last night that we should have heard by now.

I wish they would send a note either way. At least I won't be kept waiting and hoping. Just give it to me straight.

I was told today that the top 120 scorers will be contacted to participate in the polygraph. They started contacting people this week and will continue to contact people over the next couple of weeks.

Has anyone heard anything this week? Just to confirm what Cincy said. I'm not trying to be too hopeful.
