    Default Scba

Has anyone recieved scba grant and gotten more then just enough for seats?

We have a first responce pumper that goes during the week with our paid guy. It carries five packs but only has seating for two. Can we put in for what we carry now? Also what about rescue that we have none on with only two seats. Can we ask for them too?

    Direct from the guidance:

If awarded, SCBA replacement will be based on the number of seated positions in the applicant’s fleet and the age of the applicant’s SCBA inventory. Specifically, the criteria development panel recommended that DHS not consider replacement of SCBA that is compliant to the 1997 Edition of NFPA 1981 nor the 2002 Edition of NFPA 1981. Requests for replacement of newer SCBA will have to provide justification for such a request. If awarded, DHS will limit the number of spare cylinders funded to one spare cylinder for each SCBA requested, unless the applicant can adequately justify more than one spare per unit.

Seeing that the engine and rescue both seat 2, you can apply for 4 new SCBA. This only leaves you one short of the 5 you have now. Perhaps your department can come up with the money to buy the 5th.

Engine counts a minimum of 4, even if it only seats 2 or 3. Can't do two in-two out with anything less. Chief's vehicle or similar count as 1, even if it's a 15 passenger van. Everything else is actual count as far as i know.

That's what you can apply for. If you choose, you can put 4 on a rescue by not putting them on another vehicle. How you get SCBA's to a scene is what works for you (NFPA notwithstanding)

    I got a total of 14 SCBA. 2 Engines= 8 packs. My actual count is 6 on E1. 4 on E2. 2 on rescue and 2 on Brush.
