I'm a fairly new Firefighter/EMT, who for the first time in his life, spent enough money on other things in life, to itemize my taxes! Wahoo!
While I'm going to consult a tax person this year (normally do it myself, but lots of new stuff this year); I thought I'd ping the crowd here from Illinois.
For those of you in Illinois who are volunteer/POC, what do you deduct from your taxes as vollies? Do you deduct mileage on your vehicles for POV response, equipment, etc? Just getting an understanding of what has been done before so I don't sound like a total idiot going in.
