Has there been any success with funding for hose rollers? I have found two so far: Rollnrack and The Rookie Sidekick. Both are pricey around $5K. I would like to include one with my LDH project this year.
The price is not a negative when considering the cost of a workers comp lifting injury.

I put one in on our grant app for ldh. I stressed the back injury problem. We purchased the one made by Modern Rescue. It did not have the power assist, but I think that would be very nice to have. That was not offered ant the time we purchased ours. We had enough money left that we purchased two instead of one. Works very good when testing hose, have also used them to pick up the hose on a couple of scenes. They are compact enough to carry on a service truck or engine. The one drawback is the hose has to be unrolled to get it off the roller. The powered roll-n-rack can be used to roll the hose and then the roll can be removed from the roller. It looks too bulky to be carried on an engine. Another useful tool would be the Darley Hose Handler. It can be used by two people to carry a roll of 5" hose and also to reposition a 5" line when it is charged. Also don't forget hose ramps.
We put one of these into our NFPA 1901 project and had it funded. We did not put in enough $$ for the power option but wish we would have. We ended up going with the Roll-N-Rack unit. The problem is storage space, but still a worth while unit.
