    Question Green/LEED Buildings

    I will admit I know little to nothing about green/LEED buildings. I was involved in a conversation today about buildings with green roofs,etc. Anyone have any investigations in one of these buildings? We have a few proposed where I am interested to see if has any comments on them.

    I have read a few articles about Green fire stations being built. They all cost more to build. They all claim to recover the extra cost of construction over time through reduction in energy cost. I have not seen any truthful one for one comparsion studies to support there claims. This whole idea loses creditbility when the man leading the charge for GREEN is the same man who claims he created the internet.

    "God and the firemen" is the people's cry;
    But when 'tis out and all things righted,
    God is forgotten and the firemen slighted.

    Yeah I agree it does take a lot away. Though it is going to be paid for by Stim money and it is one of the requirements that it be energy eff. and overall green capable of LEED certification. Federal organization..three engine bay station with separate flight facilities for Lifeflight, cops, dualing fed helos, and mini tanker base. Engine station will have a shot crew, two engines one muni and one fed. Going to be an adventure. A lot of separate parties and interest. See what happens five years from now.

    Default International Code Council - IgCC

    Thanks for the information above, I thought it would be a good idea to
    let everyone know that the International Code Council has been working
    on a new code called the International Green Construction Code or IGCC.
    Unlike LEED, which is a rating system, the IGCC will be an enforceable
    and adoptable code for jurisdictions across the US. The ICC is set to
    release the Public Version for comment very soon and needs comments from
    our community in order to ensure these codes meet the expectation of the
    community. For more information: www.iccsafe.org/igcc
