Say it isnít so!! We always knew that American La France was garbage, but know they are actually building garbage trucks.
The bought out Sterling and now have fixed the AmLaF name on these vehicles.

Well actually bosco, I didnít see that thread so that is why I created this one!
Since I care less about American LaFrance, having been in a department that had bunches of them, the name condor didnít mean nothing to me.
Maybe since American LaFrance moved its production to Pennsylvania they may get a few more orders instead of being in the stink hole state of SC! Either way I still donít care about them!

Ironic, their fire truck are garbage.
02-27-2009, 11:14 AM #9I can't believe they actually pay me to do this!!!
One friend noted yesterday that a fire officer only carries a flashlight, sometimes prompting grumbling from firefighters who have to lug tools and hoses.
"The old saying is you never know how heavy that flashlight can become," the friend said.

You are correct. When they left Elmira and moved to Bluefield they were making good strides for a come back. Harry Figgie dropped the ball on them and dumped them. Once they left Bluefield the products got real bad and really never have got back as they were between Elmira or Bluefield factories.
I know of a few guys who actually like the newer American La Frances in our area. A few not many!
It is mostly Pierce and or Seagrave with a few KME's, Stuphen's and some others.Stay Safe and Well Out There....

I highly doubt that the location where the trucks were made had anything to do with the quality, and the way the company was being run had everything to do with it. If the quality of the workers in SC was an issue there probably wouldn't be nearly as much industry as there is in that particular area.
