Default working as a full time firefighter and attending college/paramedic class

I currently working as a full time firefighter in CT. I work 3 on 3 off, days and nights 12 hour shifts. I was just wondering how other full time firefighters find the time to attend college/paramedic classes with a rotating schedule?

Here the City sends us. We're taken off shift for the duration of the class. Return to the street when it's time for internship.

most local community colleges work around or with the local fd's schedules around here. and/or people use tradetime (you work for me this day, I'll work for you that day).
