Just a idea I had to start a thread specifically for those who atended the seminar in Reno. I would like to thank Kurt and all those who attended for the input, professionalism, and willingness to help. I have created this post to help us stay in touch and offer a communication point to follow our successes. I think we and other can learn alot from pooling of the minds.
Stay safe,
Bryan

The sharing and flow of information and ideas was overwhelming. All during the Reno summit the willingness of everyone to help everyone else regardless of who they were was inspiring. All took critique in the positive spirit that it was intended and that critique was definitely helpful. Even 'The Hoser' above who started this thread, on our way to the airport, provided me with a mind blowing facet to enter into my operational outcome. I flew all the way home reminding myself to immediately enter this into my narrative. At the beginning of the Summit it was very satisfying to be able to put a face to a 'FireHouse 'forum name.
For me, whether I get funding or not, it was an experience I will never forget.
And to those who helped me with my beginer computer skills, thanks for your help and patience.

True to form....where Kurt is expect snow.
Great networking experience. Alot of hard work by everyone to get a narrative prepared for the "Reno Review" by 2 different groups. Got alot of good feedback and ideas/tips from the reviewers. Some of the best tips came from the folks that may not be as accomplished as some of the folks there. Thank you.
It was a great to meet and place a face with the folks that frequent these forums.
If anyone needs help/input/feedback shoot me an email. Good luck to everyone.

It was great meeting all of you. I got home about 10pm last night and am still trying to adjust back to east coast time.
I spent today finishing up two FPS proposals that I had started. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. I have #2020 and #2370 in the queue so it looks like a low application year. Maybe that will improve my chances to make up for last minute submissions.

Had a great time and learned alot too. The one thing I whished we would have done was to take a group photo. Hey, can any one send me the class list with e-mails? I didn't have a flash drive (I never got the e-mail to tell me to bring one) to down load the list. My e-mail is rhoskins@frenchtownfiredept.or g. Thanks.

Enjoyed the opportunity to meet so many individuals who were willing to offer their time and advice so that we can continue to succeed in the AFG grant program. The opportunity to network, discuss successes and failures and how to best avoid the errors that doom so many requests was invaluable. Dinner with new found friends on Wednesday night was one of the most enjoyable times in my career. I do hope we have the chance to do it again.

Ditto to all the comments above. It was great to put faces with screen names. I was able to take alot away from the seminar. (except in the casino!) Also some great new friends. Hope we can make this an annual event. Thanks to all who went.

I heard one of us scored big at the casino. Anyone remember who it was?

Ditto to everything everybody said above. Great info, great networking, and great to actually meet a lot of you guys!
I'm still on the way home after an adventurous trip and getting stuck at the Grand Canyon by the train we rode left without us.
But, we'll be home tomorrow!

Just got home this morning after a couple extra days in California and a couple of long airport delays yesterday. Agree with everything said above and look forward to using the great networking group. I did come away from Reno with $50 profit from the casinos.....

Well, I too wish we had a group shot with everyone, but this is as close as it gets:

Since we are not nearly as lucky as most of you at the casino, several of us decided to brainstorm ideas at another local facility where we spent hours upon hours discussing our spelling, grammar, and proper formation of our narratives.

Regardless, it was a pleasure to meet so many of you face to face and brainstorm. The networking at an assembly like this is worth far more than one can imagine. Sorry I had to cut out a day early, but more FD work was needed elsewhere for me.
Good luck to everyone and I'll be keeping an eye out on those modification of facilities awards!

Well folks, it was a great seminar, probably one of the most proiductive I have ever done and we will repeat it again next year; maybe that cruise we talked about!. It was great meeeting many of you for the first time and putting names to faces. I am quite sure that everyone took home much more than they arrived with wether that was from the gaming tables or in comments of the panels on your grants. By the way I think the big winner there was Lebeda from Westchester. Now lets see if we hold true to form here and gain a 90+% success rate this year. Good luck to all. I am off to Indy tomorrow for the last one of the season. Look out Indy, the "iceman" cometh! Break out your parkas folks.LOL!

So Jeff was the big winner. That guy can write his narratives like he wins at the tables. That figures.
