TxDOT Funded Training - No Cost To Participants

Work Zone Traffic Control/Qualified Flagger (CCT 520) Review basic principles and standards for the design, application, installation, and maintenance of traffic control devices required for construction and maintenance work as set forth in Part VI of the TMUTCD. Certified flaggers meet qualifications established by the Texas Department of Transportation. (16 hours)

Work Zone Traffic & General Construction Safety Training (CCT 400) Provides students with information and tools to recognize hazards on most public roadway work zones and general construction or maintenance sites. Students learn to identify unsafe work practices to help reduce and/or eliminate hazards from the work environment reducing the risk of incident. The course emphasizes the risk-management concept of safety throughout the training and provides a general overview of setting up and taking down traffic control devices on public roadways in Texas. (8 hours)

Available for All City & County Employees and Volunteer Firefighters in Texas

These are the two classes that are intended for FDs. Basically if you run traffic control around incidents on roadways the liability is still the same as construction crews if someone gets hit or gets in a wreck. Main issue being insurance may not pay for injuries, etc. Like anything else have to be trained to do the job.
