Fake firefighter nabbed after trying to fight fire
Monday, March 16, 2009 (03-16) 13:20 PDT Suffern, N.Y. (AP)
Police arrested a man for impersonating a New York City firefighter after he tried to help battle a warehouse blaze in the suburbs. Suffern police and fire officials said that the 39-year-old man was dressed in full New York City Fire Department gear, including a jacket, pants and a helmet with his name on it.
Volunteer Fire Department Battalion Chief Michael Stark said he asked the man what he was doing at the Feb. 5 fire. He said it seemed "kind of bizarre."
Protocol states that non-departmental firefighters must get permission to assist from a commander.
Police said the man was arrested after an investigation revealed he was not a firefighter.

Read this on statter 911.........Damn idiot.
Just because it's called a throw bag, doesn't mean you throw the whole bag... you're supposed to hold onto the rope.

He sounds completely nuts!
If he wants to be a firefighter so badly he should try something so complicated and beyond the capabilities of his loopy little mind that he will not have thought of this one. JOIN the f**king department! What does he think people who want to be a FF normally do?
How many times will he try that con out before someone suggests that to him? And where are the men in white coats when you need them?
It's not the destination, but the journey that matters.
Stay safe

You join one dept and you can only go to their fires. You never join any, you can go to anyone's! Law of averages!

So I wonder if he has a brother, Quenton?Stark mentioned the issue to Suffern Sgt. David Tarantino, who interviewed McConnell and asked him for identification. He didn't have any with him, but told the officer which car was his.
Tarantino ran a check of his license plates and got his identification.
