When does it start? I keep looking and don't see a date.

Last posted rumor was sometime on or about the 30th. Once you see the guidance posted, the app period will open a couple of days later, if it follows the pattern of previous years.

They have Peer Review scheduled starting on May 4, so it's going to be a "tight" schedule...

By the count the 30th is the last Monday to start. Technically could open on April 1st since 30 days is all that is required for it to be open.

    Any new news!

Still no DJ or 1199 update for our 2008 OP’s grant

Called the help desk and the gentleman would only tell me that this is a good thing.

So far...no PG. If not out today then won't open on the 30th correct?

Not supposed to be open on the same day. Wouldn't surprise me for it to show at 5 PM EST so no one is there to deal with phone calls. That's what I'd do.

Sounds like something they would do!

On a side note....anyone know how to get salsa out of your keyboard?!? See what I get for trying to work through lunch!

Good shop vac will probably suck it out. Or pop the keys off if you're not ambitious enough to open it up. Mine has screws so it does come apart but like the stuff down the kitchen sink drain not sure I want to see what's on the other side. Some of my letters are starting to fade off so probably after this grant season will need a new one.

Grab another bag of tortilla chips. The chips are small enough to work around the keys. You do not want to waste any good salsa.

Wouldn't surprise me to see it tomorrow just for them to be different. Probably will come out during the week. If it opens by Thursday it can end on May 1 which I thought someone posted that Peer started the next week so that would be enough time for 30 days. Normally a week in between the end and Peer starting, but wouldn't be the first time it was only a weekend. 2006 was that way I think. Oh well, que sera, sera. My days and nights are all just apps until it's over anyway....

I swear I'm giving up trying to guess the opening date from now on. Surprises me no more.

Has anybody heard anything new on an opening date? I have been using the time to polish my narrative up but I am beginning to get antsy

I have been informed by a reliable "little birdie" that the PG is waiting for final approval with no offical date set for opening. No new news on the station or SAFER grants.

There will be 8 AFG & 3 SAFER awards on Friday.

    Time to bring on Lonestar:

You can tel-e-phone, tell a friend, tell a lie 'bout where you been, no neewwwwsss

send a pigeon, send a fax, write on a post-it pad, send a signal up in smoke, tap it out in Morse code, I'd prefer a bad excuse to no neewwwwsss...

Could follow that up with the Maverick Oh What a Cryin Shame or even Ronnie Milsap's Any Day Now...

C'mon everyone, time to kill time with song titles that fit...

Some peer reviewers just told us they were scheduled to start reviewing around May 18. However, their time has been pushed back.

Man Brian, I wish I had time to kill like you! I'm up to my arms with stuff to do! Working on the awards for Danville & Catlin from 2008. Working on IDPH Grant which is due in a couple weeks. Working on OSFM grants. Fine tuning AFG grants. Working on SAFER R&R which will be opening soon (of course that term is relavent). Trying to plan what I need to look at during FDIC. Oh yeah...and there is a full time job, and three part time jobs in there too. What was that other thing I was supposed to do? Hmm, oh yeah I was supposed to spend time with that thing called a family! Haha

Don't have time, just have a mind for song titles and movie quotes, came on the Y chromosome. Plus I always have music in the background while I'm writing. Varying between country, metal, jazz, oldies. Have to keep the mind changing gears so I don't do the same thing over and over.

Already have over 500 AFG apps in the works, 10-20 new a day coming in, 12 writers to coordinate, 4 PT office staff taking the load off of me on paperwork, and already a few dozen station grants lined up. Plus IL FM, plus COPS, and a few others. So I got you beat for now but you're catching up. I feel like one of the In Living Color sketches, Hey Mon! I'm the CE-No, writer, reviewer, database admin, web designer, mailbox gofer...
