Default Pres. Obama and the Disabled

How about this one? Will this get the libs to comdemn the Messiah?

    http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpu...ent-ob-15.html

I get a laugh from the White House statement. Of course he wasn't making fun of the Special Olympics. I know that. That's not the point. He was attempting to get a laugh at the expense of mentally disabled citizens. That, to me, is despicable conduct. Something we should not expect from a US President.

So joking at the expense of developmentally disabled people is OK and we all should be laughing our asses off? Remember, this "joke" was not told by two guys sitting in a bar. It was the President of the United States.

The liberal bias of the media is absolutely repulsive. Can you imagine if a Republican official at any state or federal level said that? It would be headline news and they'd call for him/her to step down.

No, I'm not saying it is OK. It was another rather crude and obnoxious gaff by this president. Now that he has the limel9ight to himself he keeps making one screw up after another. Previously, in true liberal fashion, when he screwed up he was able to redirect. He no longer can do that.

I apologize if I came across wrong. It was early in the morning.

Crow, don't feel too bad. Obama is not the first politician to make a gaffe, and he won't be the last. To his credit, at least he had the decency to appologize.

Obama stepped on his tongue. It's not that big of a deal. Although had GWB done it, the ensuing circus would have been far more extravagant.

If he wants to redeem himself, take a moment to invite some Champion Bowlers from the Special Olympics to the Whitehouse for a few games. When he gets spanked, admit his mistake, and move on.

The collective gasp from his staff and advisors must have been earth-shattering.

Amazing what happens when he deviates from the one thing he is (so far) good at.............sticking to the script and the talking points. Yes he apologized - but not immediately and ONLY after the uproar began the day after.

For the record, that's not accurate. I recall a news story mentioning that he made a call, from AF1, to apologize before the show even aired.

Because word of the joke had leaked HOURS before it aired. Keith Oberman had been talking about it within 5 minutes after it being taped. It took off from there, my bet is that his advisors got wind of it rather quickly.

It was an embarrassing moment, to say the least. I was very disappointed when I heard it. At least he apologized promptly for saying such a stupid thing. I hope he learned a lesson about unscripted casual appearances.
Now if we can only get Bush/Cheney Inc. to apologize for sending thousands of our troops to die for a neocon pipe dream.
You guys hold your breath on that one.

    Agreed.

I am a Special Education Teacher. Obama's remark did not go over well with my Middle School students who participate in the local version of the Special Olympics.

Bad enough I have to correct fellow colleagues when they say, "He is such a tard" or "That was so retarded". Just gets my feathers up.
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?

Kind of funny actually. I don't recall what they used to be called, but in recent history they have gone from being patients, to clients, to consumers.

President Obama made a bad joke. He apologized. I understand people being upset over it. Personally, it had little affect on me.

Well, I got to tell you, that it PO’ed me to no end that this clown made a remark on national television as he did. Whether he meant anything by it, he said it and that is uncalled for.

I didn’t actually see the Tonight Show as I had gone to bed early that night. My daughter who has a challenged child called me not a minute after bozo said it. Yes it was a taped show and the droids in the White House made an explanatory statement. What if a white person had been on the Tonight Show and said something that was racist about him or his race? There would have been trouble all over this country against any white person.

For someone with the education that he has he sure can make a complete *** out of himself.

I have written to the White House, along to my Senators and Representative and made my voice heard.

I sure hope that the Special Olympics and other agencies do the same.

Geez....I think people are getting way too upset. The guy slipped up, sure, it was inappropriate. People are reacting like they have never said anything inappropriate before. He apologized and did it promptly too. Big deal.

As if we haven't made the same mistake. They guy is human after all.

The organ that he stepped on with freshly sharpened golf shoes is a bit lower than his neck in my opinion.
Having driven mentally handicapped adults around western Kentucky for 3 years and seen them competing in Special Olympics,I will agree that he will get beaten like a rented mule should he accept any challenges from Special Olympics.Bowling, track, basketball, you name the sport.

He could have used his own cell phone from the ground or maybe one of NBC's office phones and reimbursed them for the call instead of using government resources to make what is arguably a personal call.
He thinks that all his perks are free.
Taxpayers have to pay for his transport, security and communications. If he still has a cell phone contract,he should have used it for that call, not the US Air Force's communications systems just to show that he "gots the juice" to do it.

And of course they couldn't get another session taped in time to remove that gaffe, even though it would have and has greatly embarassed the President.
Who's in charge of this goat roping?Obama or NBC?
Reckon they wanted him to look the fool, even if they are taking a too late look behind the curtain?

So you approve of his using United States Air Force communications equipment for personal phone calls when he has his own personally acquired cellular phone to use and apologize for a joke that came out wrong whether he meant it that way or not?
You must also have been okay with Clinton using the Oval Office to call in his "human humidor" for a little side action or when he used hotel rooms paid for by the campaign to meet women.
It may be okay by you but those are my tax dollars in use, even if YOU want to donate your dollars to a political party allows that stuff.
