Made my Friday, broke my previous record for largest award amount/fed share in AFG and SAFER. In the same day even.

Having a good month around here, hit the 35 mark on Sunday and 4 days before that found out that my daughter gets to be a big sister around Nov 15th. Need to write more, need a bigger house...

Yes it was, checked the calender and counted several times. Didn't hit it this time would have been May/June to avoid grant season.

    Onebugle,

Do you have any idea how many vehicle grants were applied for in 08? Also, to get past the computer scoring what call volume/numbers are required in this area. Helping another department. I have not done vehicle grant before.

Keep your radar up for the possibility of maybe more than one. There's alot of that going around of late. That sonogram can make a dads knees weak. Congrats.

morgan according to the DHS AppStats doc from 2008 there were 7,909 vehicle apps. Not including today there were 628 awards, so chances are dropping from 1 in 10 to over 1 in 12. More expensive toys, same amount of money means fewer awards. Time to lobby for more dough in the program...

    morgan,

There is no magic number for call volume to get past the computer. Every thing number wise has a bearing on whether a department will get past the comptuer. Average age of fleet, average age of the vehicle to be replaced, call volume, cost of the project etc. have a factor in the computations.

If they need a new piece of apparatus then go for it. The numbers are just that, there is nothing you can do to change the data (unless fraud is committed) to influence the outcome except for one area the cost of the project.

FYI: I finished a narrative for a piece of apparatus for another department (basically new) that has no call volume. We'll see what happens.

Are you having cravings Brian (or wishful thinking maybe?)

Actually, it is a slice of chocolate cake (the dense decadent fudge type with fudge sauce).

Wishful thinking since I can't eat stuff like that for a while. Considering out of the two of us I'm the one that looks like I'm carrying... Too much eating bad while on the road. Need to cut that out for next workshop season, bad hearts run in the family. Need to be around a long time for the little ones.
