I found this while doing a google search and thought anyone that did not make it to a workshop you might find this of some interest. Check out the link listed below.

I appreciate that! The only workshop they had within 3 hours of me was an hour-and-a-half drive and a night I was at work.

How can they truly create a 2009 Guidance Presentation when the 2009 Guidance hasn't been published?

AFG Workshop
I attended an AFG workshop this year. For the most part, most of it is the sames as the previous years. The new things this year is procurrements when purchasing equipment. You must open your bids and give manufacturers equal opportunity to put in a bid. You must be general in your specs and go from there. Another addition was Annual physicals for your personnel. Again this year you can apply in all 3 categories even if you were awarded a grant in that category the previous years. When purchasing a vehicle, you still have to have the $100 a day penalty clause in the contract. All members must be trained to NFPA 1001 standards, if not they will be asked to explain their plans to meet those standards. These questions will be asked for every activity. Inregards to PPE, applicants will be asked to provide significant detail in their requests regarding existing equipments inventory and the afe of the existing equipment will be considered in all phases of review. SCBA's - applicants with significant numbers of SCBA that are old are a high priority, and those that are compliant with the more current editions of NFPA 1997 are a low priority. Those of you that are applying for a Regional grant must complay with your Statewide Communications Interoperability Plan (SCIP) and the SCIP must have been approved by DHS. Those applying for Vehicles must comply with Chapter 6 of NFPA 1500 on Fire Department Occupational Safety and Health Program and standard operating procedures should require that all vehicle occupants wear seatbelts and that drivers obey all traffic siganals, signs and laws. Excess funds, up to 50% of a grant's excess funds may be used for training and/or wellness and fitness intiatives, any use of excess funds in this area must be approved by DHS in an amendment request.

Check the following that was posted on the AFG website. Gives an explanation on the NFPA 1001 issue.
