    Default Grand Canyon University ?

I have been considering attending GCU for their Masters Program in Fire Management. I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with them, good or bad. Do you folks think that there is still a bias against on-line degrees? Thanks, Mike

I have no experience with GCU, and the stigma against online degrees is slowly disappearing. HOWEVER, Oklahoma State has a master's in fire and emergency management that can be done online and with seminars. The way it works if you go up there for a week or two each summer and take seminars eight hours a day, and I guess do coursework at home by internet. Oklahoma State has been educating firefighters for over 70 years and bills itself as "the West Point of the fire service." It's a brick-and-mortar school with name recognition (especially in the fire service), and it's public so it's cheaper (even out-of-state tuition is pretty low).

I am sure there are a lot of other good programs at established schools out there too. What's the point of going with an internet-only or for-profit school when there are good options at respected traditional schools?

Mike as the Director of a online BS/BA degree in Fire I would say NO. The degree will look the same if you take online or on campus at least it does here at Eastern Oregon University.
