My instructor asked a question that I just cant find any answers for and I was hoping to see if anyone else has any info. So the question is, how did Johnny and Roy from the tv show emergency squad 51 effect the fire service and what change was made? Any info would help alot thank you.

This is not a black and white question. This question is meant to make you think. You need to research where the fire service was prior to the show and what changed nationally because of it. This is your project, this should not take that much effort to research at all.

I agree you need to research. But the short answer is yes. They along with Rampart Emergency Hospital were the first to autorize the use of pre-hospital care. First cross-trained firefighter medics. This opened the gates to fire and ems being combined into one. Research it there is a lot of info out there on this.

Rampart was a fictional hospital, portrayed by Harbor General at the time. And I think Miami actually got the program going before L.A. County. They along with Rampart Emergency Hospital were the first to autorize the use of pre-hospital care.

Johnny & Roy
They inspired a wehole generation of people to get involved and become part of the the fire and ems services, and I am one of them! I don't know that they changed policy anywhere but I know they many people to join the fire service to be just like "Johhny and Roy"
