Default Past funding caps for Quints

    Hi All,

Any of you who have been successful in receiving a grant for a quint, how much were you awarded, how much did you request and what was the length of the ladder.

We're writing a grant this year for a quint >76' and are curious about funding caps. Better to get just what you need rather than what you want (and really don't need).

Thanks in advance for the help, Bob

Probably more important to know is that only about 17-18 trucks get funded yearly at any amount over 500K. Look to the old award lsit and do an Excel sheet withit and then sort by catagory and then price and you will see what I mean.

Got 2 towers this year that we were asking for over $850k and got pulled back to $750k projects, so matched at that. Nearly everyone ends up financing the remainder, but hey financing $200k on a $900k truck isn't a bad deal at all.

Thanks for the input...BC what were the department stats on the towers...urban, suburban, big, small...busy etc.

    Thanks, any help is great!

One more question...pumps or no pumps on the vehicles...seems crazy not to bid a vehicle without a pump but I guess some depts are in the position to need a true "ladder".

    Thanks

suburban, both over 2500/sq mile in residents, both pumps. both over 600 fire-related plus 100+ M/A calls, total runs with EMS over 1500 for one 2000 for the other. Both replacing 25+ year old units.

    Thanks much BC

We're suburban at 21,000 pop. with 4000 calls, two stations, two engines, 114 four-story buildings and closest ladder, quint anything elevated is 20-30 min out by mutual aid request.

Tough road ahead but, "if you don't enter, you can't win".

Pretty much. Only thing that will put you a little behind is new purchase, everyone replacing an older unit scores a little higher. But good argument for one so might as well spin the wheel.

100' platforms, no brands in any of them since it doesn't matter. Name brands never belonged in applications since the message should be 'we have junk and need new stuff'. Now thanks to the open procurement language claiming to have chosen a manufacturer at application time might get you booted real quick.
