    Default Another Legend Lost

Legendary porn queen Marilyn Chambers -- who went from selling soap to starring in dirty movies -- has died at 56 in her mobile home near Santa Clara, Calif.

Chambers, whose real name was Marilyn Ann Taylor, was found by her daughter, McKenna. The cause of death was not immediately known, but foul play was not suspected, officials said.

Chambers started her career as a model and eventually was pictured on Ivory Snow detergent boxes posing as a mother holding her baby.

But in 1972, she decided to answer a casting call, not realizing it was for a porn flick. Nevertheless, she took the job starring in "Behind The Green Door" -- sparking a buying frenzy of Ivory Snow boxes.

Procter & Gamble quickly dropped her, but her new employers couldn't resist billing her as 99 and 44/100% pure -- Ivory's advertising slogan.

Behind Green Doors and Deep Throat were required viewing when I was in college. Interestingly enough, both stars of both movies have now passed on. I think Linda Lovelace passed in 2002 or 2003.

Wow, nice to know that Barber College had a film class!

I am now a past chief and the views, opinions, and comments are mine and mine alone. I do not speak for any department or in any official capacity. Although, they would be smart to listen to me.

I don't think he got a good grade... It was "Behind the Green Door".
