Based on our pop. our match is 5%. Our department instead will increase that to 10%. In the application the match is automaticlly calcalated at 5%. In my narritive I stated our 10% match. Does that become a problem during closeout and also is there something in the app. I am missing?
Thanks,

You should be able to type in the 10% value in the budget page. Or reduce the cost of the project since you can overmatch anyway. More obvious to the computer that you're asking for less funding.

The closeout manager won't squeak if you're over 5%, but they sure will squeak if you're under.

We want to try an 15% match. How about that? Is is best just to state this in the narrative, or just reduce project cost and state this?

I would think you would want to keep the fedral share as low as possible and take you vehicle total minus your overmatch and use that number as your request total. Enter that number into the budget and let the computer fugure out the 5 percent off that. I would think that would help you get past the initial computer review. Otherwise the computer will see your full amount and wont take into account the overmatch you state in your narrative as noone will get a chance to read it. Just a thought

When they say we need to stop thinking of vehicle aquisition matches as coming up with only the required minimum, but start coming up with a larger cash participation to help increase chances of an award, and I did. I would try and show that everywhere I could. Especially the narrative.

Just be careful not to overmatch, as this could lead to questions about why you couldn't fund or finance the project yourself.
