    Default Need help with this!

I am a volunter and POC at a department in a smaller town. I am 39 going on 40. Now I know there is a cut off for age in the state of 35 to get on a fulltime dept. My question is................is there anyway around this age limit to get on a dept?? I have an EMT-B lic and am going into medic school in Fall.

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance!

yes, if you are POC that counts as a paid firefighter, and makes a difference in the age limit issue, i did a quick search but could not find the exact statute but I know it is out there

    Hope this helps.

Also some cities have different rules also, I think Springfield Illinois hires at older than 35

Bloomington and Normal fire depts have a list for "experienced" medics, no age limit to be hired. Experienced means that you already have your medic license, and are ready to go right to work. A friend of mine recently got hired in Normal and is on the job and loving it at age 42.
