Is there any NFPA or other regulary rules that require having a TIC at any time on the fire ground? I need info for my AFG grant.

There is no NFPA standard for a TIC, yet. It's in the works. NFPA 1500 is the one I use, but does not address a TIC specifically, but in general terms.
7.1.1* The fire department shall provide each member with protective clothing and protective equipment that is designed to provide protection from the hazards to which the member is likely to be exposed and is suitable for the tasks that the member is expected to perform.
8.8.2.1 Each RIC shall be fully equipped with protective clothing, protective equipment, SCBA, and any specialized rescue equipment that could be needed given the specifics of the operation under way.

NFPA 1407 Standard for Fire Service Rapid Intervention recommends a TIC as part of a RIC/RIT?FAST teams equipment. 1407 will become a standard in early2010.

Are awards limited to 1 TIC per dept or has anyone received more than 1?
