Just a quick question(s):
When AFG applications make it to peer review, who are these guys? How do you get to be involved in the peer review process?
For the peer reviewers: Thanks to all of you that have contributed to this process! (6 for 7 successful grants!)

6 for 7. I would say, "why aren't you a candidate?"

Each year, DHS brings together a panel of fire service professionals representing the nine major fire service organizations to recommend funding priorities and other implementation criteria for AFG. This criteria development panel is charged with making recommendations to DHS regarding the creation and/or modification of previously established funding priorities, as well as developing criteria for awarding grants. The nine organizations are:
Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI);
International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI);
International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC);
International Association of Firefighters (IAFF);
International Society of Fire Service Instructors (ISFSI);
National Association of State Fire Marshals (NASFM);
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA);
National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC); and
North American Fire Training Directors (NAFTD).
The same group is asked to provide membership of their organization s for peer review. If you are a member of any of these organization you can contact them about becoming a peer reviewer.

Last email that I got was for "a hotel in the Baltimore / DC area", TBA soon... I'm scheduled to go July 6 -10. I'd really like to find-out exactly where, as it will make a difference as to whether I drive or fly. Don't want to be stuck at some suburban beltway hotel without wheels, but then again, if we're in downtown Balto or DC, I can walk or mass transit to anywhere I'd want to go at night... Also, getting down to less than a month, so it'll be harder and harder to get a seat on a convenient (direct) flight, especially on the holiday weekend....

For a little favor, I know a bunch of guys on these forums that would come to Baltimore just to chauffeur you all around. May even buy a couple of drinks....
Have fun guys, I'll be camping with the family those two weeks.

We'll have to figure out who all the firehouse.com forum members are, and plan an evening to Inner Harbor... I'm planning on driving, and depending upon exactly where we wind-up, the Baltimore / DC area has fairly decent mass transit.

Oil City is about 60 miles south of Erie. We are the home of all of the county's problems, it's where oil was discovered and marketed. Home of the first oil exchange, and so on.

Had a conversation with someone "in the know", and it looks like they are closing in on a hotel in the Lutherville / Towson, MD neighborhood. About 15 miles north of Baltimore. He wouldn't tell me any more, as it's still in negotiation.

I am about positive we went through that area. Spent the night in a little town called Grove City, asked the lady at the hotel desk about a fire station, and she told me she did not know where the closest station was?
