Recently we have had a fire in the sulphur loading arm. In fact it was an explosion in the ship. The fire was then extinguished using water spray and a subsequent fire ensued.
My information on Sulphur dust/granules:
dust is formed during transport and due to attrition.
It is flammable.
water does not wet the sulphur granules.
granules are coated with chemicals for preventing dust.
With so many fires I suggest a visit to the CSB site:
furthur input will help the forum
