    Default Suburban VS Rural

    What makes the differences per AFG. Seems Like I have seen on here before. Thanks in advance for you help

    less than or equal to 500 people per square mile: Rural
    over 500 to 2500 per square mile: Suburban
    greater than 2500 per square mile: Urban

    Just remember popuation density is only one factor that will determine classification. Open space, amount of hydrants etc. also have a factor in determining the classification.

    I'm not sure I agree with those stats. Our City is 4 sq. Miles with a population of 11,504, that comes out to 2876/mi. we were still listed as suburban by the computer. I had changed it urban, but in the narrative header it said we should be suburban. So I followed their guidelines, rather than buck the system, and changed it back to suburban.

    Density metrics change below certain sizes. Plus as Bugle said, there are other factors too.
