    Default last minute vehicle question

what training meets AFG's standards on a vehicle award? Would the training put on by VFIS insurance satisfy them?

are you referring to the comprehensive driver training program that is required?

    Here's an example

You may also want to mention some kind of training leading to Pump Operator certification (presuming that the apparatus has a pump!).

Your best bet is to get the funding, or arrange with MUFRTI to get a driver/operator course. You can cite in your narrative that you're going to get a state recognized program that can lead to IFSAC/Missouri Division of Fire Safety certification for Pumping Apparatus Driver/Operator.

You might also be able to find an instructor locally that can teach the class and cut out the middle-man (MUFRTI) and get your guys certified through the state.

What you're referring to with the VFIS is only an EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) and is only part of the total package AFG is wanting for a comprehensive driver training program. I know some departments that are writing that they have in-house training and are using the VFIS or some other form of EVOC, but they're missing the point of what AFG is after. However, the EVOC is a good place to start!

    Thumbs up

We use the VFIS and EVOC course. The problem with VFIS is that it misses all the drive time that is required, but it's a good place to start. This is not a one class program and your done. It is an ongoing program, there's many hours of drive time that is required in each type of vehicle. Hope this helps !

Thanks guys! I figured the VFIS wasn't enough, I found it later on my own, I appreciate the responses though.

Catch, if it comes to that's what we'll do probably, this vehicle app is a long shot at best, I spent most of my time on the ops grant, they wanted me to give the Tanker a shot anyhow.

I did the same thing. If you don't give it a shot, you have 0% chance, though, so I threw one together and got it submitted.
