    Default Help Dif Surburan vs Rural

    I have 19,800 people for 30SM...I was thinking this was Sub, but the system just said that's rural..??????????

    The population density is only one factor that determines the classification. Amount of open space, # of hydrants etc. are figured in as well to determine rural, suburban or urban.

    How about this...

    If you have more livestock than people... you might be rural....

    If you mow your front law and find a truck... you might be rural...

    If tagging a hydrant involves a 5 mile drive.. you might be rural...

    ... ...

    Super 64, I have the reverse happen to me, and believe me we are rural. 8500 pop. for 42 sq. miles, we do have hydrants in the city, but the county water system is not considered a fire support system, and cannot be counted per the county engineer. Actually the (flush plugs) have tags on them that say not for fire service use.
